item4The object of this challenge is to accelerate as fast as you can to some maximum speed and then apply maximum braking to slow to a stop as quickly as possible. Of course, you must stop in the box formed by the finish line and the line of cones. The length of the box, i.e. stopping zone, appears to be about 25 feet. The Vette is traveling about 110 mph when you begin braking. You thus have about one eighth of a second error window to catch the stopping zone. That is, there is an ideal point to put on the brakes. If you are a sixteenth of a second too early, you will stop short of the finish line. If you are one sixteenth of a second late, you will crash into the cones and be disqualified. This challenge was quite a bit harder than Challenge I. I was consistently a little late getting on the brakes. You can get the redplug here. Or click here to see a small video.
